Notes
General:
BIRTH-MARRIAGE-DEATH: Robert G. Cooney JR, "Bradt Records from Amsterdam," THE NEW YORK STATE GENEALOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD, Vol. 118, #3, Jul 1987; p. 133; also, Myra Vanderpool Gormley, web page on Vanderpool genealogy, http:// www.geocities.com/Heartland.Hills.4066/vindex.html.

NAME: Her name is spelled many ways, including Annetie Baerents, Annetje Barents, Annetie Barents van Rotmerz, Annetje Barents Rottmers, Van Rottmer.

ORIGINS: From "Origins of Some New Netherland Families" by Harry Macy JR in THE NEW YORK GENEALOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD, Vol. 123, #1, Jan 1992, pp 17-19: "...the place of origin of this family seems certain to have been on the North German coast at the mouth of the Elbe River, just east of Cuxhaven. There, in the Kreis Land Hadeln, only five kilometers separate the towns of Altenbruch (which translates to Oudebroek in Dutch) and Otterndorf (Aterendorp). This area is now part of the state of Niedersachsen, and was formerly included in Hannover.

There was a family in Otterndorf with the surname Rottmer, as shown by numerous entries...The first name of the father of Annetie Barents and Barent Barentsen is known to us only from their patronymics."
