Parkersburg Newspaper: Samuel Connolly dropped dead Saturday afternoon about 4:30 O'clock near the B & O Freight terminal at the foot of Fifth street. Leavitts ambulance was called but he was dead when they arrived. Mr. Connolly was working on his automobile when he was stricken. Coroner B. O. Robinson is making an investigation and stated Saturday evening that it is not complete, and he did not have a report yet to make. The body was removed to Franklin Funeral Home to await funeral arrangements.
Mr. Connolly of 2013 Mudock Avenue was 52 years old and had been an employee of the B&O Railroad for years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Funeral services will be held at home.
Obituary lists a wife Kathryn, three sons, three daughters.
Samuel lived in Spencer, WV until 1912. He then bought land in Meigs Co., OH. Also buying land at the time in Meigs were William B,. Connolly, (his Uncle) and Joe Marks, his brother-in-law.

Samuel married Isabelle Marks, daughter of Thomas W. Marks and Elizabeth Short, on 13 Aug 1899 in , Roane County, West Virginia. (Isabelle Marks was born on 11 Nov 1874 in , Roane County, West Virginia, died on 14 Oct 1928 in , Wood County, West Virginia and was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery.)
