Taylor Co., VA Historical Book. Taylor Co. Historical Society, P. O. Box 522 Grafton W. VA. per Lois Greathouse Gindlesperger.

Source: Barbara Tabor, 6560 Starnes RD., Watauga,TX 76148 has furnished information on the children listed for William and Mary Ann Owen. She has also attached John Greathouse b. 1795 m. Rebecca Williams. Neither I or Barbara have evidence that John was actually the son of William but the date of birth makes it entirely possible. Her family group sheet for family shows the other children born before 1790 could be the 1790 census. She did not specify which. THIS IS THE FIRST INDICATION OF ANY CHILDREN FOR WILLIAM AND MARY ANN OWEN

Bev Stone in a gedcom dated 2/7/1998 showes Children of William and Mary Ann Owen to include: David b. 1790, Brown Co,, OH, d. Point Twp. Posey Co.,IN. 1827.and John b. 1792, Brown Co., OH, d. 1829 Union Co. KY m. Permelia
Milly' Milligan. This John could be the father of Lydia Ann who married Hiram Greathouse in Union Co.,KY.

Source: Chris Bailey William and Mary (Owen) Greathouse were certainly NOT the parents of John Greathouse as listed. William, was taxed in Upper Saucon Township, Northampton Co., Pa. in 1786. 1788. and 1790. In the census of Upper Socon Township. William Greathouse "Jr" appeared in the tax records of Harrison Co. Va in the 1790's. On Feb 28 1799 William Greathouse and his wife Mary sold 100 acres of land on Coplin's Run, Harrison Co., WV to George Roby. They returned to their former home in Pennsylvania (which had become Mifflin Co.,Pa in 1789 with the formation of a new county from part of Northampton).
