Fran Campbell quotes from the death certificate of Thomas Hulse in Jennings County, IN,.."his mother's name is given as Lydia Scott. In the 1850 Geneva Twp, Jennings Co., IN census David is listed as 31 years of age, Lydia as 31, and their son Thomas as 8. In the 1860 census Geneva Twp, Jennings Co., IN, David is listed as 41 and Jerusha is listed as 31. Now I don't know if Lydia died between the 1850 and he 1860 census and David married Jerusha or if Lydia's middle name was Jerusha. One interesting note for the 1850 census there was an Elias Sutton living with David and Lydia age 16. If his age is correct, and Lydia's is correct, and if he is her son by a previous relationship, then she would have given birth to him at around 15 years of age. Possible I suppose, but no likely. I do not have a 1870 census listing for David and Lydia/Jerusha but in 1880 Geneva Twp, Jennings, IN census David is 62 and Jerusha is 50."
Jerusha married David Hulse. (David Hulse was born on 25 Feb 1818, died on 6 May 1890 in , , Indiana and was buried in Hulse Cemetery, Scripio, Indiana.) |
