"Harmon's first wife's surname is clarified by the writings of his son, William Greathouse. William called her Mary Griffin, but the surname of the family of the area was Griffith. She had previously often been called Masry 'Massey' incorrectly. This name was mistaken with his second wife's given name, Mercy wich occured as an error years ago and has been copied and passed down to each generation.
Mary married Harmon Greathouse Jr., son of Harmon Greathouse and Mary Magdalina Stull, about 1785. (Harmon Greathouse Jr. was born on 6 Jun 1762 in ,Baltimore ?,Maryland - Pennsylvania? 1 and died on 5 Jul 1849 in Deatsville, Nelson, Kentucky.)
