"He and his wife and six children who were brought up in the love of a good christian home. When he was very young he carried his family to a northern county of Alabama and there homesteaded some land. He immediately joing himself to the Baptist church and became a good leader. He was ordained as a decon and on one occasion baptized some people after helping organize a church. ... "The last three years of his life were not pleasant, as he lost control of his body and mind, but he could sense his friends love for him, and tried in his weak way to tell them so."
