General:

Thomas is said to have disappeared sometime aroud the time of Jessie Edith Rook's birth in 1894. Several stories exist, including one in which he is trampled to death in a Omaha, NE stockyard. Other stories include various versions of him absconding with or losing a large sume of money entrusted to him for the purchase of cattle in Omaha.
He was cleard by a grand jury of an assault and battery charge entered on Nov. 14, 1894. He appears in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Census for Henry Co., IA, Salem Twp.
