Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Grace Parmer, age 84, of Louisville, will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Dykes Baptist Church in Louisville. The Revs. Bob Britt and Kenneth Andrews will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton directing. Mrs. Parmer died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her son's home after a brief illness.
Born July 26, 1924, in Louisville, Mrs. Parmer was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Verlie Myland Herring Dykes. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Olan Mims and James Jackson Parmer; and two sons, James Olan Mims and Billy John Mims; a great-granddaughter, Cassy Rebekka Brooks; and two sisters, Johnnie Ruth Dykes and an infant sister.
Mrs. Parmer was an active member of Dykes Baptist Church. She loved Sacred Heart sings, helping others and taking care of family and friends. She owned and operated Graces Beauty Shop for 37 years.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Emily Parmer, Louisville; eight grandchildren, Clint James Parmer, Kelsey Laura Parmer, Janet Melissa "Lisa" (Harry) Peterson, Tracy Lynn (Eric) Kidd, Betty Lynn (Randy) Morrison, Billy John "Johnny" (Amanda) Mims, Brandy Michelle Clark and Dana Powers (Stephen) Raffaelli; 11 great-grandchildren.
Asked to serve as pallbearers were Johnny Mims, Clint Parmer, Grant Peterson, Calvin Kidd, Randy Morrison and Jordan Andrews.
