His obituary identifies him as the "oldest son of Enoch and Louis Greathouse"
It says "He united with the Primitive Baptist church in 1878 and was ordained in 1878. He risided all his life in this community with a constant aim to lead a Christian life.Having attained a ripe old age he was perfectly reconciled to go and peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at the home of his daughter, Eva Blood, where he spent the last years of his life."

Ciney Polk Greathouse oldest son of Enoch and Louis Greathouse was born at West Salem , Illinois, June 27, 1844, and died Nov. 1st, 1927, at the age of 83 years, 4 mos. and 4 days. He was united in marriage to Susan Marks in the year 1868, and to this union was born children, 5 daughters and 2 sons: Eliazbeth Heillman of Latham , Ill., E. W. Greathouse of Chicago , Ill., Louis Christy, Eva Blood, Eunice..., and E.D. ... Salem, Ill. He leavessurviving 4 brothers, 2 sisters, 14 grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn his departure.
He united with the Primitive Baptist church in 1878 and was ordained in 1878. He risided all his life in this community with a constant aim to lead a Christian life.Having attained a ripe old age he was perfectly reconciled to go and peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at the home of his daughter, Eva Blood, where he spent the last years of his life.
The funeral services were held Thurday afternoon at the Macedonia Church, Elder E. H. Bashear of Cynthinia, Ind., offficiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Macedonia cemetery.
