Maxine Young Lowe, 87, of Bowling Green, went to sleep in her home surrounded by her loving family at 10 p.m. Sept. 24, 2010.
She was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Good Luck, Ky. She was a well-known businesswoman and the former owner of Lighthouse Truck Stop, College Street Inn and Judy's Castle. She was a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late Emery Young and Leatha Whitlow Young and the wife of the late Herbert "Herb" Lowe, her husband of 49 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Lynn Lowe; three brothers, Otis, Prentice and Howard Young; a sister, Mae Parsley; a nephew, Dwayne Bryant; and a niece, Gorie Milam.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Lowe Werner and her husband, Jeff Werner, of Bowling Green; a brother, Otha Young of Alvaton; two sisters, Rhea Palmer of Bowling Green and Mildred Bryant of Smiths Grove; eight nephews, Tommy Palmer of Mesquite, Texas, Bobby Young of Tell City, Ind., Gary Young of Pueblo, Colo., Jimmy Young, Jerry Young, Mike Young and Keith Young, all of Bowling Green, and David Bryant of Smiths Grove; eight nieces, Bernice Jones, Nell Hines, Kaye Mason and Sue Clark, all of Bowling Green, Patricia Steele of Lafayette, Ind., LaDonna Fusett of Delphi, Ind., Elaine Yates of Smiths Grove and Linda Howe of Alvaton; eight great-nephews, including Keith Palmer of Frankfort; seven great-nieces, including Stacie Jordan of Bowling Green and Jennifer Jordan of Irvington; caregivers, Bernie Gamlin, Melissa Creek, Cindy Roberts and Kelly Brannon; and very special friends, Betty Doolin and Wanda Scott.
Maxine married Herbert Earl "Herb" Lowe, son of Charles Sidney Lowe and Ada Edwards, on 5 Feb 1948. (Herbert Earl "Herb" Lowe was born on 24 Oct 1910 and died on 10 Jul 1995.)
