May's (Etheridge) great-uncles, John, Michael, and Job D. Etheridge were civil war veterans who enlisted in 1861 at Grayville, Il in the 7th Illinois Regiment, Cavalry (E unit) with John enlisting as a Sergeant and ending as a Captain, and the other two ending as Corporals. The Etheridges farmed in the French Creek and Dixon precincts between Albion and Grayville.. ¹

Eliza married Harris O. Etheridge. (Harris O. Etheridge was born in 1866 in Dixon Precinct, Edwards County, Illinois ¹ and died in 1931.)
