Special Note on Rachel's grandfather Frederick:
His gravemarker (1837) has the following inscription:
"Called into service as a Minuteman by Capt. Douglas Hade in 1780. In 1781, served Capt. Thomas Cowan in the regiment of Col. F. Locke. Acted as guard of prisoners of British soldiers who were captured at Eutah Springs, SC., and marched them to Henry County, VA., where they were received by VA authorities."
