Notes
General:
He was in the civil war, Union Army: Company D 1st W. Va Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted on September 17, 1861 and was mustered out on Nov 26, 1864. He fought at the battles of: Winchester, Fort Republic, Cedar Mountain, Second Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg, Piedmont, Lexington, Lynchburg and many other minor engagements.

At the battle of Cedar Mountain, he received a gunshot sound to his right leg and was sent home for recovery. At the battle of Lynchburg, he received a gunshot wound to his head from a sharp shooter from the Rebel side. He was captured on the field where he was left for dead. 912,917
Medical:
Henry received gunshot wound to the head during the Civil War resulting in epilepsy, and gunshot wound to the leg resulting in rheumatism. 918,919
