• She appeared on the census in 1850 in , Marshall, VA (Later WV). 857 She is listed with Benjamin Lydick. Name is listed as Sarah. Possibly her mother's name was used since her mother died a few months after her birth. It was common to use the mother's name in a census for a yet unnamed daughter. Later she appears to be called Margaret Jane.
• Guardianship: of William and Margaret, 5 Nov 1856, , Clark, MO. 969 Henry Greathouse named guardian of William Henry Lydick and Margaret Jane Lydick. Note: It is believed that this was done in order to allow Henry to manage the land they inherited from their grandfather, Harmon Greathouse, through their deceased mother, Sarah Jane.

Daniel Price appointed guardian of William Henry Lydick and Sarah Lydick. Note: The children are living with their father (Benjamin) and step mother (Mary Ann) in the 1860 census. It is believed that this guardianship was done so that Abel Bonar could use the land that the children had inherited from their grandfather (Harmon Greathouse) through their mother (Sarah Jane( Greathouse) Lydick). Other surrounding land was purchased by Abel Bonar through Harmon's children.
