Notes
Burial Notes:
He is buried in Kansas State Prision Cemetery at Leavenworth, Kansas.
General:
Ezra died in the Kansas State Prison at Leavenworth, Kansas. He was imprisoned for making silver dollars. He melted down silverware, etc., to make the coins. They were nearly perfect and it took the FBI several years before they could catch him. They finally weighted 50 of his pieces and the weight came up short of true U.S. coins. This actually wasn't enough for them to make a case, but it scared Ezra and he tried to bribe the officers, apparently using the coins that he had made. His actual arrest was for attempting to bribe the officers. He was a model prisioner. Six moths before he was to be released he died from an accident involving the new railroad being constructed into the prison. He was caught between two train cars and died shortly afterwards. 1
Marriage Notes (Sarah Jane Nelson)
They appear to have been married again 7 Jan 1890. There were two records of marriage between Sarah and Ezra Truitt. She was married under the law and through the church.
