Source: From Ted McMullen, a descendant. He maintains that John is the son of Daniel Greathouse and Mary- Morris. "both William Bishop's "History of Roane County 1774-1928 and "History of Roane County-1989" refer to Daniel as John's father. "And of course the Family Bible maintained by my great grandmother, Sarah McDade Greathouse McMullen also included Daniel, but unfortunately the Bible is no longer in existence, destroyed by my brother." Ted has his original handwritten notes from the Bible.
Source: from Sandy Jarrett: Census 1810 Mason Co. (later Mason, Jackson, parts of Roane and Putnam) shows wife and 2 children; John 26-45 wife: 16-26; dau: 10-16 and son under 10. Sandy says DAR records show birth as PA.
Caution: This John was not mentioned as a son of Daniel in an article published Oct 1997 in the "Keyhole" Vol XXV No 4 Genealogical Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania by Louise F. Johnson. The article did give information on Daniel's son Gabriel. Also Chris Bailey shows only one son for Daniel . His Book 6 generations of the Descendants of John and Martha Stull gives this information: Gabriel Greathouse declared under oath in his chancery suit in 1802 that he "...is the son and only heir and representative of a certain Daniel Greathouse decd..." (Greathouse vs McCreery, Paris District Court, Bourbon County, Ky 1802).

The 1850 census shows him living in Wirt Co. and the 1860 census in Roane Co. Since he is buried in Roane Co. isn't it most likely that he died there also?"
