He left a will in which he mentioned his widow and her children but no mention was made of his son Richard Brown, III. Richard married Elizabeth Greathouse, daughter of Harmon Greathouse and Mary Magdalina Stull. (Elizabeth Greathouse was born about 1770, died on 26 Dec 1841 in Buffalo Twp, Washington, Pennsylvania and was buried in South Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo Twp..) Richard next married Barbara Nessley on 6 Nov 1798.
