Major John Van Meter
His last will and testament recorded in Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV. He served as an ensign in the Yohogania Co., Virginia Militia during the Revolutionary War and later attained the rank of Major.
John married Jemima Dunn, daughter of Hezekiah Dunn and Mercy Martin. (Jemima Dunn was born about 1740 in Newton Twp, Sussex, New Jersey and died in 1804 in Wheeling, Ohio, West Virginia.) |
