Notes
General:
L.C. and Mattie McLaney had a small farm in rural Barbour County, where they raised their children. "Currie" loved to keep up with the new, and as a result, always took local news papers, and was one of the first persons in the area to own a telephone, and later a television. He was known for the sugar cane syrup he made. He suffered from glaucoma and was almost blind in his later years. (For more information see"Farm Life Memories" by Jennie Lou McLaney Pittman.)Marriage Notes (Mattie Lou Mims)
John Phil McLaney says: "I have documents that spell his name a number of different ways. I go with what is on his headstone. Lucious Curry McLaney. Even his children can not agree on a correct spelling. His son, who was named after him spells his name Currie."
