My only source is from my mother -( Sarah Jane Lowe}, and a death certificate which states that Elijah H. Greathouse was his father and Mary Rector was his mother. There was a small piece in the Scottsville paper: ...(that said) " He leaves a wife and two children." I have no knowledge of another child and my mother said she did not think there was anyone except Gainelle....
I did find them in a census in Allen County, Kentucky. Just Golden and son Gainelle.
My tombstone picture does show W. as the middle initial for George, but 20 April 1884 as his birth date. The death certificate also says 20 April 1884. ...

• Photocopy: newclipping, Scottsville, , Kentucky. "Scottsville Man Falls in Oil Tank and Drowns. Scottsville, Kentucky, Dec. 18 -- George Grethouse, an employee of the Good Luck Oil Company, while taking buckets of crude oil from a large tank, was overcome by the gas fumes and fell into the oil. His body was recovered in a short while. He leaves a wife and two children. He was 30 years old."
