Jay C. White 2
Notes: After marriage, he and Ida went to Renfro, Oklahoma. They homesteaded a farm, at the time of the "Sooner Run" about 4 miles west of Renfrom and 1/2mile north. They lived in a sod house. In about 1980, Roy L. White and Melvin J. White visited the farm after finding the records at the Medford, Oklahoma courthouse. Roy made the observation that it was not very good farm land. According to a farmer living 1 mile north of the homestead, his father also homesteaded their place. His father told him that at the time of the Oklahoma Run, when the farms were homesteaded, that the bluestem grass was 6 feet tall and the quality of the land was not easily determined, even on horseback. The land was of red dirt and the water was salty. Jay married Ida May Seitz, daughter of Jesse Anderson Seitz and Elizabeth "Eliza" Jane McMulin, on 2 Dec 1896 in Anson - Austin Cemetery, Sumner County, Kansas.1 (Ida May Seitz was born on 15 Nov 1878 in Anson - Austin Cemetery, Sumner County, Kansas, died on 9 Jan 1930 in Wellington, Sumner County, Kansas and was buried in Wellington - Praire Lawn Cemetery, Sumner County , Kansas.)
