MR. GERALD D. MAGNUS
Gerald "Shorty" David Magnus, 70, was born to Earl W. and Bertha C. (Vaughn) Magnus on Oct. 9, 1936 in rural Cedar Vale. He was united in marriage to Coral Ann Goode on Oct. 9, 1955. He lived a full life of happiness and gave the gift of love to all who knew him. It is with a sincere heart that we say he will be greatly missed in death, as he was loved in life. He died Nov. 22, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Gene and Ernie; and one infant grandson.
Gerald was a retired employee of Caney Valley Electric and former owner of Short's Supermarket. He was active in Lions Club. Masonic Lodge. Eastern Star and Chairman of the Cedar Vale Labor Day Association for many years.
He left behind a family who will remember him with love in our hearts and smiles on our faces. At the time of his passing, he is survived by his wife, Coral Ann; his sister, Velda Hatcher and her husband, Clyde, of Arkansas City; his sister-in-law, Maxine Magnus of Cedar Vale; his son, Wade Magnus and his wife, Tresia, of Arkansas City; his daughters, Connie Kirchner and her husband, Mike, of Cedar Vale; and Cathy Walker and her husband, Scott. of Mulvane. His grandchildren; Aaron and Stephanee Magnus, Ryan and Katie Walker, Christopher and Tracy Griffith , Case and Sara Walker, Richard Griffith. Kristie and Casey Oiler , Donnie Joe Griffith, and Emilie Magnus; and his step-grandchildren. Dean and Hope Kirchncr, Jimmy and Paula Kirchner. Also the apple of his eyes, his great grandchildren Kyler Magnus, Jeron Kirchner, Ryleigh Griffith and James Kirchner. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Services were held Monday, Nov. 27 at the Cedar Vale United Methodist Church. David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan was in charge of arrangements.
