Allen Coombs Huckleberry III
Notes:
"Allen Huckleberry, who was sitting at the bar, did not surrender his wallet quickly enough to suit [Callins], and [Callins] shot him in the neck, causing him to bleed to death." Callins v. State, 780 S.W.2d 176, 180 (Tex.Crim.App.1986), cert. denied, 497 U.S. 1011, 110 S.Ct. 3256, 111 L.Ed.2d 766 (1990). Callins then rifled through Huckleberry's pockets, took the other victims' property, and fled. 3
After convicting Callins of one count of capital murder and two counts of aggravated robbery, a jury imposed the death penalty. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed Callins's murder conviction and death sentence but vacated his robbery convictions.
The murderer was executed in Texas in 21 May 1997
