Source: The Descendants of Francis Greathouse. Alan Emerson, a native of Kentucky, who after living for some time in Indiana came to Edwards Co., IL, a pioneer in 1817. He settled in section 4, west of Albian. He and Nancy had 14 children. He was elected to public office a number of times. County Judge, County, Treasurer and one term in the State Legislature. He was a soldier under General William Henry Harrison at the Battle of Tippecanoe in Indiana in 1811, against the Shawnee Indians under Chief Tecumseh, was in the Black Hawk War of 1832 and was personally acquainted with President Lincoln.
Alan married Nancy Mounce.
