"Moved with her husband and family to this county about seven years ago."
This would make their move from Warren Co., Iowa, to Webster Co., Iowa, in about 1880.

DEATH: From an unidentified newspaper, most likely the Dayton (Iowa) Review, about 12 May 1896:
An honorable and useful life ended. Daniel Conklin, the subject of this sketch, was born in Connellsville, Fayette county Penn., Jan 22, 1825. Died May 12, 1896, aged 71 years, 3 months and 20 days. When he was about 3 years old his parents moved to Zanesville, Ohio, and three or four years later moved back to Penn. He lived there and in Maryland until the age of 21 when he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Herstine. Two children were born to them, Mary Margaret and James E.
In 1852 his wife died and the following year he married Nancy Scott of West Va. They moved to Putnam county, Ind., in 1854. Three children were born to them. Lee Scott, Flora E. and John R. They resided in Ind., until 1868, when they came to Iowa. His occupation up this time was that of a carpenter, but at this time he was engaged in farming, 5 miles south of Des Moines. In 1880 he came to Webster county where he has since lived. In 1887 his second wife died and 5 years later he was united in marriage to Mrs. E. J. Allen, who survives him.
While living in Indiana the war of the rebellion broke out, and in Sept. 1861 he enlisted in the 10th Ind. Regiment and was appointed Chief Musician of the regiment in which capacity he served for over one and a half years when he was finally discharged. He was a brave and faithful soldier and never turned his back to the enemy. He, in his youth gave his heart to God and united with the Baptist church and was a faithful and consistent member of that body until his death.
