The following was submitted by Ted McMullen. "The Mystery Headstone" Just behind the State plot in the Old City Cemetery is a delapitated mystery tombstone. On it is the name Dr. Ridgely Greathouse 1802 - 1852. However, he doesn't seem to be the person buried there. The cemetery records show a Dr. K. Greathouse who died of cholera there in 1852 to be here, but his name is crossed out and Ridgely Greathouse penciled in. Mortuary records at the State Library list only a Dr. K. Greathouse as an occupant of this grave. (John D. Greathouse in a letter dated 28 April, 1999 confirms that this grave is actually that of Dr. Henry Ridgley Greathouse. See notes for Dr. Ridgley). There is no further information about Dr. K. Greathouse but there is a wealth of data about Ridgely Greathouse
