Source: From Ted McMullen, a descendant. He maintains that John of the John Greathouse SR. and Sarah Mcdade file is the son of Daniel Greathouse and Mary- Morris. "both William Bishop's "History of Roane County 1774-1928 and "History of Roane County-1989" refer to Daniel as John's father. And of course the Family Bible maintained by my great grandmother, Sarah McDade Greathouse McMullen also included Daniel, but unfortunately the Bible is no longer in existence, destroyed by my brother." Source: David Casto 9 Dec 1997: The following is a brief summary of Bourbon County,Ky Chancery Court Case #113, Gabriel Greathouse vs Andrew McCreery & al. "Complainant Gabriel Greathouse as son and only heir of Daniel Greathouse (who died in Monongalia Co.,VA in 1777) brought suit in 1799 in Bourbon County, KY against his mother and stepfather, Mary and Andrew McCreery, with intent to receive settlement of his father Daniel Greathouse's estate." David only received four pages of the proceedings and was told the total was approx 100 pages. He refers to Jack Murray Greathouse viz:"He seems to have tied into the wrong line." David believes this proves that Daniel only had one son, Gabriel. John J. Greathouse believes that Gabriel was born in 1774/75 and was about 3 years of age when his father died. He lived with his grandfather, Harmon for several years.
