Source: Marriage: Some Greathouse Marriages in Harrison County, WV 1784-1850 gives name John Greathouse, minister was J. W. Lootbourow. Spelled spouse name as Milly Gilaspy. Source Death: William Greathouse has 25 Sep 1838. Source: Military Service William K. Greathouse. John (Johannes) was a Rev. War veteran who in 1777 enlised in Capt. Kilgore's Co. 8th Penn. Reg. (Regulars) and served throughout the War. He was the only known Greathouse awarded a Federal Pension for his service in the Revolution. Pension was awarded in 1816 when he was 60 years of age and continued until his death in 1838.

NO. 5998 No. S.8630 Greathouse, aged about 60 years, in 1832 made oath before Harrison County Court, that he enlised in Bedford County, PA, 1777, in Captain Kilgore's Company of the Eighth Penn Regiment, afterwards commanded by Col. Broadhead, then he served three years, was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Paoli, and was discharged at Pittsburgh, March, 1780. Pension was granted. Soldier died September 25, 1838. Supporting claims made by Jacob Coplin and Christopher Nutter."
