LONG PRAIRIE (WEST SALEM)

Long Prairie Church was organized on July 1, 1825, with eight charter members, viz., Isaac Greathouse, George McCown, Sarah Clark, Margaret McCown, Jonathan Shelby, Thomas Carney, Polly Mitchell, and Margaret Sams. It began as an arm of Bon-Pas Church. The presbytery was composed of Elder Elias Roberts (moderator) and Elder John Clark (clerk), and Brethren Martin, Nathan Bigelow, Jeremiah Wilson, B. T. Edmund, and Marion and Charles Hensley.

" ...He united with the Primitive Baptist Church at Long Prarie, Edwards Co., IL , in Nov. 1882 and begin preaching the gosple of our Blessed Savior in the following year, and has always lived closely and stood firm to the teachings of the gosple.He has been a pastor of a number od churches serving them many years in succession. He reomved form the farm west of town to West Salem on Jan 7 1898m being a resident of this place for over 31 years.
At the time of his death he was pastor of his home churchm serving them regulary for more that 20 years, and at Little Zion Church near Cami IL,about 25 years.He also served as a civil war veteran...." Obituary for Isaac Jasper Fuller 4

ISAAC JASPER FULLER - born in Wabash county, Illinois, July 22, 1847 and fell asleep in Jesus at his home in West Salem, Ill., Feb 25,1929, at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 13 days. He was united in marriage with Lois Eliza Greathouse, January 23, 1870. To this happy union were born four children namely: Edgar of West Salem , Ill, Emmot of East St. Louis, Ill., Loren, of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; and Mrs. Lee Duncan of Olney, Ill, all survive him. He united with the Primitive Baptist church at Long Prairie, Edwards county, Illinois in Nov. 1882 and begin preaching the gospel of our Blessed Savior in the following year, and has always lived closely and stood firm to the teachings of the gosple.He has been a pastor of a number od churches serving them many years in succession. He removed form the farm west of town to West Salem on Jan 7 1898, being a resident of this place for over 31 years.
At the time of his death he was pastor of his home church serving them regularly for more that 20 years, and at Little Zion Church near Cami IL,about 25 years.He also served as a civil war veteran , enlisting at Mt. Carmel, Ill., in Feb. 1864, along with his father and older brother. His father was Simpson A. Fuller and his mother was Rebecca More, both of Wabash county. His brother, John, lies buried at Rome, GA., and his father, who lived only five months after coming home, at Lick Prairie cemetery, Wabash county. His other brothers are Finney, Amos, George and Eli, the latter being the only brother living. He has always lived a long and useful life and always ready to lend a helping hand. He leaves to mourn his departure his aged wife, four children, seven grandchildren and a host of faithful friends. A great and good man has gone from us, our loss is his gain. The funeral services were held at the home and at the Macedonia church on Wednesday afternoon, February, 27, Elder Thomas Jones of Carmi, and George W. Wardell of Mt. Erie, officiating.
