Notes:
Source Bob Richardson. She had her last child at the age of 42 years old. Old family tales said that she was born in Deep River, Indiana. The 1880 census said that she was born in North Carolina, the same place her parents were born.
A family history letter that Bitha made for Velma says that Ruth Ann Johnson was born in Deep River, Indiana. And in 1854. She met James Thomas Greathouse in Missouri.
None of the census has Ruth Ann Johnson listed with her parents. Her parents didn't have a 1870 census, Ruth was born in 1861 and married in the 1880 census. But we know she is the daughter of John Johnson and Sarah cox because of the family information handed down by Bitha Greathouse Abrams and the old Bible we have that belonged to Ruth Ann.
The obituary of Ruth Ann said she had a son by the name of F. A. Greathouse living in Asher, Oklahoma. All of the census of James and Ruth lap over each other and there is no F. A. Greathouse or any name close. The census say that she had 12 children and two died. All 12 children are accounted for. In the 1930 census of Asher, Oklahoma list only one Greathouse and that is Samuel Allen Greathouse the son of James and Ruth. It looks like the obituary writer put down F. A. Greathouse and should have put down S. A. Greathouse. The obituary doesn't list Samual any other place.
The death certificate for Amye Greathous lists Ruth's maiden name as Huffman, but Ruth's death certificate and her own Bible state her parents as we show them. Death certificate for son Samuel Allen Greathouse says Ruth Johnson. All other records we have found confirm Johnson.
