Leonard was the first born of seven children to Ivory and Mabel Greathouse. Because Ivory left the Family shortly after the last was born, Leonard took on the responsibility of brother and father to his Brothers and sisters. He graduated from Wyandotte High school in 1940 and in 1941 he entered the Military service and served as a medic until released at the end of WWII. While in the service, he Married Doris and was the father of Robert and William and after 12 years of marriage he and Doris were divorced. In 1958 he met Martha and they were married shortly afterwards. They had a child, Terri, in 1964 and Martha died of cancer in 1973.
