• Military: enlisted, 1945. 37 His rank was private. He spent three hears in Germany with the Army of Occupation. He was honorably discharged and reenlisted in 1949, and left for the Korean Theater July 9, 1950. He was wounded in action on Dec 1, 1950, while attached to the 7th Infantry division and was flown to Tokyo, where he died. He was the first Saint Clairsville war veteran to give his life for his country in Korea. He passed away on Christmas Day in a military hospital in Tokyo, Japan. His body was sent to Beck's funeral home in Saint Clairsville, Ohio. The pastor of the Saint Clairsville United Presbyterian Chruch officiating. Full military rites were give by Saint Clairsville Post No. 159, American Legion.
