Notes
General:
Gunnar Lars Anderson, the only child of Gerda & Lars Anderson, was born in 1919 in Hobors, Sweden. When he was about 3 years old, he and his parents immigrated to the United States of America. They first lived in the Chicago area, but then they settled in Kansas City, Kansas. Gunnar graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1936. In January of 1941, he was inducted into the United States Army to serve in World War II. He was naturalized while in the service, and earned the rank of Warrant Officer J/G. He served in the Pacific Theater - in particular, Maffin Bay, Sansapor, New Guinea, and Luzon. His medals included American Theater Service, Asiatic Pacific Theater, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal. He was released from the military in November 1945. Gunnar loved sports and was very good at all of them. He was a City Tennis Champion and he played semi-pro baseball. After returning home he went to work for Stowe Hardware Company, where he stayed for more than 30 years. He was Sales Manager there for many years. In 1978, he resigned and went to work for Tucker Hardware until it burned down in 1990.

It was in 1949 that Gunnar married Evelyn Greathouse and they became the parents of five children - four boys and one girl. During the years of rearing children, he served as "Cub Master" and as a Little League Coach for a number of years.

Gunnar is an avid card player - particularly Poker and Bridge. Gunnar is a very outgoing person with a great sense of humor and is loved by everybody who knows him.
Marriage Notes (Evelyn Mary Greathouse)
