Notes

Source: Vivian M. Taylor
Her birth name was Veronica Combs. When she and James M. Greathouse got their marriage license, her name was given to the clerk as Victoria. All further mention using her name gives it as Victoria. Oral history by James Edward Morlock, grandson of James Madison and Victoria Greathouse, says that James gave her name as Victoria because he liked that name better than Veronica. 9
