General:
John Milledge served in the Civil War in Capt Sam Ogden's Company of the lst Battalion of the 5th Regiment of the Arkansas Cavalry. Before leaving Arkansas he was financially well off, however, during the Civil War the government confisticated five hundred bales of cotton, and whatever else they could find, and all they had left was their home and the store building.Marriage Notes (Virginia May)

J. M. Greathouse died last evening of old age at the home of his son-in-law, N. H. Hessey, No 1600 Canterbury Street. Mr. Greathouse had been a man of prominence in Arkansas before coming to this state, holding various positions of trust. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity for more that forty-five years. Since coming to Austin he had resided most of the time with his son John Allen Greathouse, the well known contractor, but had recently gone over to live with his son-in-law, husband of Tennesee Ann Greathouse. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. J.F. Tate (Louemmer Dory Greathouse) of Torreson, Mexico, who reached here last evening; Bolivar Greathouse of Kyle; James Willard of Dripping Springs and Napoleon Bonaparte Greathouse of this city.
Note 1870 census lists one chid "Tula" along with the others listed here.
