• His obituary was published in 1923. Elijah S. Greathouse - son of Andrew J. Greathouse and Rebecca Quigley, was born near West Salem, Edwards county, Illinois, December 21, 1866, and died Wednesday morning January 3, 1923, at 5 o'clock at his late residence in West Salem. He was married January 13, 1892 to Amy Voigt, who survives him. Two sisters, Alta, the wife of George Marks , and Lida, the wife of Charles Fildes (sic), have preceeded him in death. Several months ago Mr. Greathouse suffered a paraletic (sic) stroke from which he never fully recovered, but seemed to be improving until a few days previous to his death. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the residence and were conducted by Rev Edward H. Clifford pastor of First Christian church , and under auspices of West Salem Lodge 137 I.O. O. F., of which the deceased was a member. Burial was made at the Moravian cemetery
