Walter studied law and became a prominent attorney in Toledo, IL. He served two full terms and part of a third as States Attorney for Cumberland County... He was born and grew to manhood on the Greathouse farm west of West Salem. The "C." comes from the obituary of Forrest his son. 1

• His obituary was published in 1932. 3 Walter Greathouse-son of Francis and Eunice Greathouse,was born near West Salem Ill.,was born Jan 19, 1889 and died at Toledo, Ill .Tuesday, Jan 12, 1932. He attended public schools in this vacantly, and later took a law course at Danville Ind.., and after graduation he located at Toledo, where he practiced law and also served two full terms and part of a term as States Attorney at Cumberland County. He also took a great interest in farming as he was born and grew to manhood on the Greathouse farm west of West Salem. On Sept. 12,1899 he was united in marriage with Miss Mattie Mock, of Toledo, and three children were born, Forrest, who lost his life in an accident at Mt. Ranier Washington , July 2, 1929; Mrs Bernice Hance of Brocton Ill.; and Olive Greathouse at home. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, one brother Timothy, on sister, Mrs William Vandever, both of West Salem; two half brothers, Chester of Dixon Neb. and Cleveland of this community. Funeral was held Thurs. Jan. 14 , at Toledo Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Walter Barker and burial was made in the Toledo Cemetery.
