From the Seattle Post Intellingencer 1929 "Greathouse planned to Live Here, Friend Says - The Greathouse Tragedy" Forrest "Bud" Greathouse young summit guide in his 1st season at Mt. Rainer was killed in a fall into a crevasse above Gibraltar Rock - wanted to make his permanent home in Washington -- revealed by Kenneth Powell 1710 N. 50th St., with whom Greathouse roomed and boarded since his arrival from Toledo, Illinois 3 years ago. Would have been 30 years old January 16, 1930. Son of W. C. Greathouse, a county prosecuting attorney of Toledo, Illinois, wanted body (if recouvered) brought home. Graduated from Illinois State with class of 1925, taught for 1 year and then came to Seattle. This was his first trip to the top and was on way down.
