Burial Notes:
Her gravestone has the wrong date of 1852 for her birth. The stone was errected by Jasper Greathouse (her son).General:
Jasper Pennington ordered the headstones for his parents graves. I remember after the stones were installed there was a discussion about the date on Rebecca's stone. The birth date is engraved as 1852, but William Greathouse had the dates listed of his children when he applied for his son, Elijah's, Pension from the Civil War. It proved that her birthdate was Aug 7, 1856.
Sadly, Rebecca had a daughter named Cenia on Nov 25, 1894 that lived until Dec 6, 1894. Rebecca died 12 days later on Dec 18, 1894. It must have been a painful time for the whole family. Rebecca and Leroy are buried in Cariens Cemetery in Wayne Co., IL.
