He cautions that when he says probably or possibly that is what he means!!
The children listed are probable.
William Purchased 50 acres of land on West Fork of Stover Creek from Freeman Battershell of Clark Co., Aug 27, 1793 (Clark Co. Deed Bk. l, p.89) and sold the same Sept 13, 1793 to John Forbes (Deed Bk. l, p. 297), William's wife Mary Ann was mentioned in those deeds. He is probably also the William Greathouse listed in the 1790 census (tax list reconstruction) of Shenandoah Co.,, VA with 2 members of his family, so was probably recently married.
This William Greathouse is listed in Clark Co., tax lists for 1793, 1794, 1795, 1796 and 1797 (1798) missing but not later. He is probably the same William who appears on Jessamine Co., KY tax lists for 1799, 1800, 1801, and 1802 and is surely the same who appears in Warren County, KY tax lists for (1803 is illegible) 1804, 1805, 1806, 1807, 1808, 1809 (1810 missing), 1811 and 1812. He is probably the William sporatically listed in Warren County tax lists for 1815, 1817, 1819. 1821.
It is presumed William Greathouse died about 1822, probably in Warren Co., KY (though he nor his widow were listed in the 1822 tax lists of Warren Co and could have been in Illinois). Mary Ann Greathouse, likely his widow, is taxed in Warren Co., in 1823 but not later. Widow Mary Ann Greathouse is no doubt the same who is listed in the 1830 census of Pike Co., IL as 50-60 years old at the time. She was not listed therafter and and presumably died before 1840.
